At Aeternum Aesthetics we use the medical grade Lumiere Duo Laser Hair Removal device. A versatile medical-grade machine that delivers excellent results whilst making treatments faster, more comfortable and safe for all skin types, including tanned skin.
Lumiere Duo combines three wavelengths of laser, enabling us to target the skin at different depths using light energy to specifically target the melanin pigment (colour) of the hair. The melanin then absorbs the laser light energy and converts it into heat. As a result, the heat destroys the hair follicle and removes the hair permanently. Once the hair follicle has been destroyed, it is almost impossible for future growth.
Lumiere Duo is the first three wavelength laser platform equipped with Vortex: a high-speed vacuum assisted handpiece.
What does this mean for you?
The Vortex’s vacuum technology stretches the skin causing a reduction in haemoglobin, a competing chromophore to melanin, allowing laser energy to be delivered more efficiently. This method carries a greater benefit to darker skin types that contain higher concentrations of melanocytes. It also means less discomfort and a quicker treatment time.

The laser from the machine emits ‘light’ energy, which targets the hairs. The pigment in the hair absorbs the light, allowing the heat to travel down the hair follicles that lie beneath the surface of the skin. This destroys the hair root leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed.
If you’ve experienced Laser or IPL hair removal before then you may remember an uncomfortable sensation similar to a hot elastic band being snapped on your skin. Forget the pain! The unique laser wavelengths are able to effectively damage the hair follicle, whilst preventing injury and pain to the surrounding tissue. At the same time, integrated ice technology continuously cools the skin surface while preventing superficial burns and any sensation of pain.
For optimal results, a course of 6 to 8 treatments is recommended. For darker skin tones, we recommend a course of 12 treatments to achieve long term hair reduction.
For the best result, we recommend you wait around 6 weeks between your laser body treatment sessions and around 4 weeks between your laser facial treatments.
