Why Profhilo is our Number One Tweaking Treatment!

We have been offering Profhilo at Aeternum Aesthetics in Ashby de la Zouch for over 4 years, and it remains our Number One Tweaking Treatment!

But what exactly is Profhilo?

Profhilo is known as a ‘beneath the skin’ hyaluronic acid (HA) moisturising treatment. We like to describe it as an injectable moisturiser, delivering HA deeper into the skin than any topical serum ever could. It contains one of the highest concentrations of pure hyaluronic acid available and is designed to target multiple layers of the skin, restoring firmness and elasticity. It will give skin a surge of moisture resulting in a plumper, more hydrated and glowing complexion.

Is Profhilo a Dermal Filler?

No. Both Profhilo and Dermal filler contain hyaluronic acid. However, that is the only similarity. The two are, otherwise, completely different.  Dermal filler is used to replace lost volume or contour the face. Whereas, Profhilo is more of a gentle ‘tweakment’ that concentrates on regenerating the skin to improve elasticity, tone and plumpness.

We often find Profhilo to be a great ‘starter’ treatment for someone who wants to delve into cosmetic injectables but is a little nervous about trying dermal fillers or botox.  Profhilo gives results that are completely natural looking, and we find that this appeals, in particular, to those patients who are wary of making too big a change.

So, what does Profhilo actually do to the skin?

Profhilo encourages the skin to hold on to water more effectively, hence the term ‘injectable moisturiser’ as we are literally moisturising the skin from within. But that’s not all that it does. The slow release of HA stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which, in turn, improves skin tone, hydration and the appearance of fine lines. The result is improved skin quality lasting for up to 6 months.

Does Profhilo hurt?

We won’t lie. The treatment is slightly uncomfortable. The injections are tiny, and the product is injected superficially, but it does sting slightly when being injected.  The good news is that the injections take seconds to complete, so any discomfort is short-lived. Most of our patients return time and time again, so we think that we can safely say that any discomfort experienced is worth the result!

How long does Profhilo take to work?

Profhilo is a two-part treatment at four-week intervals. In cases of more mature skins, we sometimes recommend three sessions four weeks apart.

After each treatment, your skin will appear more hydrated and plumper, and many of our patients start to see improvements within a week of their first treatment. However, the full results of your Profhilo treatment won’t be visible until after your second treatment is completed.

How long does Profhilo last?

After completing the initial two treatments, it is advised that you repeat the two-part treatment again six months later. Many of our patients prefer to ‘maintain’ their results by having a one-off treatment every three months after the initial course.  If you decide to wait, you may start to notice that your skin looks less ‘glowy’ and plump as you start to approach the six-month mark.

What areas can be treated with Profhilo?

Most commonly, we treat the face and neck. However, Profhilo can be used pretty much anywhere with skin laxity. We have also recently introduced Profhilo Body to our clinic, so we are now treating areas of the body more so, and we are seeing some great results.

Is the treatment process the same with Profhilo Body?

As with the standard Profhilo treatment, Profhilo Body is a two-part treatment at four-week intervals. In cases of severe skin laxity, we may recommend a third treatment four weeks later. The Profhilo Body treatment also includes a body patch containing HA, which is applied to the skin immediately post-treatment to further enhance results. We also supply you with a Profhilo Body cream to take home to use in between treatments.

What do I do if I want to book a Profhilo treatment?

We always recommend a consultation with one of our medical practitioners in the first instance. At the consultation, we will assess the area to be treated and determine your suitability. We will look at your medical history and tell you about the Profhilo treatment in detail, answering all of your questions before you make any decision to go ahead. If you would like to book a consultation, please give us a call on 01530 417 897 or click BOOK NOW to be taken to our online booking system.
